We are looking for a biotechnology professional to support our journey in creating new taste sensations in Fazer Confectionery Business Area!

In this role, you will be part of New Product Development, R&D, Forward Lab team that manages the development of sustainable breakthrough innovations in confectionery categories, with help of foodtech.  We work tirelessly to develop new advancements and our discoveries of today are sure to be in the mouths and minds of tomorrow’s consumers.

Your focus will be the research and development of new chocolate alternatives, therefore knowledge of alternative cocoas, tropical oils, and fermentation technologies as well as previous experience in food science product development are highly appreciated. You will manage agreed development projects, do hands on contribution on lab experiments, conduct data search and new sustainable raw materials testing, introducing actively new ingredients and solutions/products based on there. You will also draft comprehensive development reports, and other scientific documentation throughout the development process and ensure that development and raw material projects as well as data search are completed and documented according to the plan.

You communicate development progress, timelines, and study results to upper management, ensuring transparency and alignment with project goals and engage in cross-functional collaboration to facilitate development work. You will work closely with Product Development, FoodTech, NPI and production, Sourcing, Category and brand management, marketing asset creation in Marketing & Communications, and other functions as needed. By creating sustainable food solutions through foodtech, new product development and R&D opportunities, you will support Fazer Confectionery, Group strategy and sustainability ambitions execution.

This is permanent position, located in Vaarala, Vantaa. We work in a hybrid model, meeting colleagues on a weekly basis.

What you’ll bring to the team

In order to be successful in this role, you have proven track record from Food Science product development and research as well as demonstrated ability to create results. Confectionery product development and wide, different category expertise is seen as an advantage. Your proficiency is based on a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science or Engineering.

You are a forerunner in mastering science and practise of future food technologies with passion for chocolate development and knowledge of innovation methods. Understanding of supply chain constraints and implications, as well as knowledge of confectionery industry, communication and influencing is required.

You are a curious and hands-on person with innovation skills to find new ideas and differentiated new products. You take ownership of your development projects and deliver them with high quality. Your approach is persistent, and you manage uncertainty with ease. Your working style is analytical and systematic; you make decisions based on facts, pay attention to details and have the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously keeping track of on-going things in a timely manner. You feel comfortable communicating across the organization and partners in English, and you have a strong drive for results.
